ASOC Sydney Trip
‼️ 2024 ASOC SYDNEY TRIP ‼️
The ANU Actuarial Society is holding its 6th annual Actuarial Trip in Sydney. The trip is an exciting opportunity for students to visit a number of leading firms in Sydney, with a focus on actuarial, data analytics and consulting. These will include KPMG, EY, PwC, Quantium, Taylor Fry, Mercer, Actuaries Institute and potentially some others firms as well!
ASOC will be extending the length of the trip to 5 days and 4 nights this year, to accommodate a whole range of firm visits, social events and free time throughout the week. The trip will be partially subsidised, and will cover accommodation, travel, social events, breakfasts and the firm visits.
The tentative ticket prices are as per follows:
⭐️ $170 - Ticket with transportation both ways
⭐️ $150 - Ticket with one way transportation
⭐️ $130 - Ticket with no transportation
The trip will be held from the 15th - 19th of July during the Winter break (this is O-Week).

ASOC+BGS Friday Games Night
Join the ANU Board Games Society (BGS) and the ANU Actuarial Society (ASOC) for an enjoyable night of poker, Figgie and board games. With over 250 board games to enjoy you're bound to find something to enjoy and with ASOC in attendance you're certain to find someone nice to play it with. To add a bit of Actuarial flair we'll also have a room dedicated to poker and also Figgie (a game designed by our shared sponsor Jane Street), where you get to manage financial risk in a fun way (No gambling to take place at BGS events, must compete only for boasting rights).
Free pizza will be provided as part of the event and drinks will be available for $2

ASOC and EY are collaborating to host an interview workshop! There will be representatives from the Actuarial, Talent & Recruiting and other teams presenting their professional advice. So join us for this hands-on event where you get to enhance your CV, interview skills and boost your professional career!

Department of Treasury Interview Workshop
ASOC has some exciting news to share! We have collaborated with the Department of Treasury to conduct an interview workshop. This workshop will include a presentation on the following:
How to prepare for interviews
What are the ideal responses for certain questions
How to manage nerves
How to choose good referees for applications
Psychometric testing
Further, we will break off into groups, with each group having one representative. They will go through some general questions and conduct mock interviews as well as provide feedback on them.

ASOC Melbourne Trip
The ANU Actuarial Society is launching its first-ever Actuarial Trip in Melbourne. The trip is an exciting opportunity for students to enhance their understanding of leading firms in Melbourne, with a focus on actuarial and consulting. You'll have the opportunity to meet a range of industry professionals and recruiters through a range of firm visits over 3 days. These firms will include Finity, KPMG, Taylor Fry and more! There will be one day of recreation and a social event with the Actuarial Societies from Monash and the University of Melbourne.

Understanding Exemptions
Still unsure of what exemptions are? Come along to the ‘understanding exemptions’ session with Adam Butt, the Head of Actuarial Studies, where you can gain a deeper insight into these actuarial requirements and how to acquire them.
